Got the new bed made, as well as a base for the kitchen, and went on a test trip to Canada! Building the bed went pretty to plan, although it was pretty funny when I put it in the van and it was too long to fit behind the driver's seat, I thought dang it, I'm going to have to cut it . . . then I feel like God told me ". . . you could put it on the passenger side", haha! I definitely can get stuck on doing things one way and not seeing a simpler solution. The new bed is great though! It's cool to have storage space underneath that doesn't get in the way, and it's nice to have a tiny bit of floor space freed up for a space to sit down or change clothes. I also built an attached floor for the kitchen. It used to just have an open bottom, like a table, but the sides would spread a bit and then the cabinet door wouldn't stay closed, plus, now with getting rid of the main, full size floor, it would be sitting a bit low. I built a simple riser platform and screwed it into place while squeezing the sides together so everything would be nice and tight. It worked great, and it's nice that the kitchen is one solid unit now. Took everything on a fun test trip up to Canada for the weekend, and it worked great! Made a couple notes on things I would like to add on or change, but it was a great improvement overall!
